Introduction
This trip to Myrtle Beach spanned the
period of Tuesday, November 4 through Tuesday, November 11, 2008 and was
focused on the Carolina Beach Music Awards. In our last report we
remarked that even before that trip was through we already were looking
forward to this one and expected it to be "an exciting, hectic, fun
filled time." And indeed it was!
But before we share those experiences we
need to explain a major change we've made this time to facilitate the
presentation of the information in accordance with our readers'
interests. Also, we want to note that this report is the first to
be published with our new website host and with our new domain name
edsandra.com.
All of our previous reports and general website components have been
transferred to the new address and we've diligently tried to make the
changes as transparent and easy as possible for those accustomed to
finding us elsewhere.
Our website has always
been and remains totally non-commercial and, as our longtime readers
know and find appealing, we never under any circumstances accept any
considerations from the parties and entities we reference in our
reports. It's kind of humbling (and sometimes downright scary) to
think that something which started years ago as simply a convenient way
of sharing information about us and our travels with a comparatively
small number of interested family, friends and associates has grown to its present
dimensions with a hardcore readership numbering in the thousands.
And we immediately heard from a not inconsequential number of those who
couldn't find us when we began doing the conversion to the new
website. Please accept our apologies if you were among those who
temporarily lost us or were concerned about what was occurring.
Organization of this
Report About Our Visit to Myrtle Beach
As indicated above, we've done something
quite different this time in terms of the presentation of the material
in our write-up and the change has been driven by the subject matter
itself. Obviously, the principal purpose of our trip was to enjoy
the activities related to the annual Carolina Beach Music Awards (or
Cammy's, as they're known) and consequently a great deal of the
information we have to share is about those events and the time we spent
with people involved in this unique, regional genre of music and its
related dance, the Shag, that has a quite significant following.
Realistically, we recognize however that many of our readers are not the
least bit concerned about such matters and instead look to our reports
for the more traditional travel commentary about accommodations, mode of
travel, dining and points of general interest related to visiting a
particular destination.
Historically we've relied upon our Table
of Contents (a link to it is at the bottom of each page) to facilitate
finding subjects of particular interest and disregarding those which are
not. And structurally, as we've always made a point to note, our
reports have been organized so one can scroll through the actual
material with its highlighted subject headings to decide what
information holds appeal and to skip past that which doesn't.
This time we've created two distinct and
separate reports, with one being devoted to the normal generic travel
subjects and the other specifically to Beach Music related matters from
the trip. At the end of the general report you'll be offered the
opportunity and means to continue on to the other one or to go directly to the
photo album for the trip. And, of course, for those who are only
interested in our information about the Carolina Beach Music activities
you now have an easy way to access it, bookmark it and forward links for
it as a focused collection.
So, without further ado, choose your path
and discover what we have to share:
